Controversial Australian director Barrie Kosky has opened a blood-soaked, MA-rated opera in Berlin complete with naked pensioners and overt references to the Abu Ghraib prison atrocities in Iraq.
His
violent interpretation of Gluck's 1779 opera includes a chorus of naked
senior citizens, a gay couple and scenes in which soldiers in US uniforms
pose for photos with corpses, whose heads are covered in plastic bags. |
