B "Ballgame" (Kunsthalle, Budapest, 2005) is an interactive video installation that works on the principle of common video games. This time, however, in place of chasing monsters and other adversaries, the audience is invited to „kill the artist”. What the visitor finds in the exhibition room is a video projection on a wall and a couple of balls on the floor. Balls can be used to hit the figures appearing in the projected picture, and the figures in the picture are reacting to the impacts. The figures destined to be chased by “players”, are entering the picture as they would fly or float, just like in so many well known video games. They are made up by pictures recruited from artists who are asked to send their photos to serve as sort of avatars for the game, and some sound recordings of their voices telling what they would tell before and after being „hit” by the viewer. |
